SKI SEASON 2009/2010 WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED
A very attractive ski show started the official opening of the SKI SEASON 2009/2010 in Pamporovo Resort on 19th of December. The event was attended by many skiers and snowboarders, eager to slide on the slopes. Special guests were - the owner of Pamporovo AD - Tsvetelina Borislavova; Deputy Minister of Economy, Energetics and Tourism - Ivo Marinov;
MP Nikolay Melemov from Smolyan; Mayor of Chepelare Georgi Popov, Deputy Mayor of Smolyan Michael Genchev; representatives of the tourism industry. Rite of health, prosperity and a successful winter season was performed by Smolyan Konstantiyski Bishop Anthony.
The ski instructors of Pamporovo performed their skills during the ceremony and entertained the crowd, which returned them with enormous applause from the crowd. One of the most impressive performances was a group of young girls and boys, dressed in national costumes, skiing slowly down and playing bagpipes... when they got down to the crowd, just removed the skis and continued to play as a band (very professional).
Pamporovo AD are hoping that they will be able to provide longer duration of the ski season, thanks to artificial snow facilities available. They have purchased 116 new snow guns, the total number of snow facilities in Pamporovo is 142 and they cover almost all tracks. The new six-seat lift, which we announced earlier. "Stenata" ski track now has lights supplied and installed this way the skiers and snowboarders have an opportunity for a night ride (between 6pm and 10pm and the lift pass costs 15 BGN). New cameras are installed to control the lift stations and a new system of entry for the skiers, which will avoid the queues. Equipped for this season are 4 new ski wardrobes, and a unique for the country rack-track, called "Arctic wolf". In some bars/restaurants will have price limits, the prices will be lower than the previous season.
