Off road biking (scramble Biking)
Deatils
Some of the most exciting and beautiful tracks and scenery in the world with many areas only available by off road tracks. The experience is intended for “newbie’s” as well as experienced off road bikers and there are challenges available at all levels.
The area is renowned for its good weather but on occasions we have rainfalls that make life very interesting on the tracks, its all part of the experience though only the lucky few will experience it.
Is it “All about the Bikes”?
Of course it is BUT there are also options for partners who do not want to go biking. The area is full of places to visit such as the wonderful Bridges, Banskov Monastery, Plovdiv and Smolyan for shopping, walks in the mountains, Devin spa town which has a fantastic swimming Pool. Local hotels have spa and fitness centres available to visitors. It is a beautiful and diverse country and trips can be arranged to visit many of the areas the bikes will see. We can also arrange for non bike riders a Quad safari taking you up the mountain to see some of the areas the bikes visit. So partners are welcome!
You do not have to be an expert in off road to enjoy this experience, in fact the majority of riders have never used an off road bike before. We do however need everyone on the bikes to have a licence. Partially because of the insurance on the bikes but also because some of the tracks are only accessible with “on road” travel.
We have a fleet of new Kawasaki KLX250’s which are ideal for the terrain. We are travelling the roads, not racing them so the bikes give toque rather than speed, but don’t be confused, these bikes are fast, but also light and very easy to handle.
Every week is different as we try to vary the options depending on the abilities of the group but this will give an idea of some of the activities and options.
A typical week on the mountains is:
Day 1: Meet at Sofia Airport (or Plovdiv Airoport), transfer by Mini Bus to Pamporovo via Plovdiv.
We can stop off if you want to, visiting Plovdiv Old town, which has many Roman ruins including an Amphitheatre – and some amazing houses.
We arrive at the hotel and arrange clothing, Bikes and have a discussion about the coming week and confirm riding ability and expectations. Most importantly – a discussion on safety.
Day 2: Up for Breakfast and ride up the local mountain to the Snejanka tower a focal point for the whole area. From there to Stoykite and over the mountain to Mechi Chal and break for lunch on the mountain top. Down from there to Chepelare and on road back to Pamporovo. Evening into Chepelare for a Meal.
Day 3: Up for Breakfast and ride over to Chepelare and off Road to the Observatory and then to Hotel Rodona for lunch – a ride back to Pamporovo off road. Evening in Pamporovo – Bowling, swimming – relaxing.
Day 4: Breakfast again. New route to the Observatory and then overland to Lacky and lunch at a mountain house. From there to Hotel Rodona and stay overnight (luggage transferred) and a Barbeque on the veranda – massage and sauna available.
Day 5: Travel back to Pamporovo via Smolyan overland. Stop for lunch at a lakeside restaurant. Evening trip to Chepelare for dinner.
Day 6: Overland to Perilik Mountain back to Stoykite for lunch and then to Mechi Chal for overnight camping, barbeque – and perhaps some traditional Bulgarian entertainment and dancing.
Day 7: Transfer to Airport.
